BARC organizes meetings that bring together some African Community leaders (pillars of the community) to engage in dialogue and also share perspectives on useful developments and capacity building initiatives that the African Canadian Social Development Council of Toronto have been involved in.
A few of the Community leaders, Service providers and Consultants held a meeting with the Director of the Council, Mr. Raymond Micah as far back as August 14th, 2007. At that meeting, participants agreed on some strategic steps to enable the African community have a clear sense of direction as to where it heading as a community.
The participants that attended one of the meetings suggested the need and agreed to involve some services providers, consultants and those who have played a role through research, advocacy, community development and leadership in the community. This will be an avenue for African service providers, faith based and community businesses to meet, share, educate each other and come up with a structure that can address both long and short term issues and needs faced by the community.
We consider you to be an important African community partner who can make some valuable contribution towards community development and capacity building. Your experience, skills, contributions are very valuable to the community and the committee appreciates your presence.
