Seneca College Honours Dr. Newnham

Seneca College, Toronto, Ontario has honoured its founding president, Dr. William T. Newnham, as the inaugural recipient of the Order of Seneca award. This conferment took place on Tuesday, May 13th, 2008 during the 2008 Distinguished Alumni Award Dinner which was held at the Ballroom of the Palais Royale in Toronto.

Seneca College, is also celebrating 40 years of academic Excellence in 2008. Dr. Newnham was honored for his vision and leadership which according to Dr. Rick Miner, President, Seneca College has helped position Seneca grow to be the leader in Polytechnic education and largest community college in Canada today.

Another highlight of the evening was the presentation of the 2007 Distinguished Alumni awards to six alumni of the college that have exceled in their various careers and professions since graduating from Seneca.

In attendance also were past Seneca Distinguished Alumni award winners, such as Esther Simon, the BARC Executive Director, who won the Distinguished Alumni award in 2004.

Also present at the event were event and college sponsors such as Johnson Insurance, Manulife Financial, MBNA, Convocation Flowers.
